Vail CO, Colorado
VAIL ” The 21st season of the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival continues Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Vilar Performing Arts Center with an evening of lively Baroque music. Tickets for this performance are $27.
Bountiful Baroque is a hallmark concert for the festival. Featuring works by the greatest baroque composers, the concert reminds attendees of the roots of classical music and the beauty of the baroque era.
The first half of the evening will feature four unique concertos by Handel, Geminiani and two works by Vivaldi. The first of the Vivaldi works will be a Concerto in D Minor for Harp and Strings, performed by harpist Yolanda Kondonassis and members of the Rossetti String Quartet.
Haydn’s Concerto No. 2 in D Major for Horn and Strings will be performed following intermission. This piece showcases the depth and beauty of one of the orchestra’s most moving instruments. Next on the program is C.P.E. Bach with a Trio Sonata in D for Flute, Viola and Obbligato Harpsichord. Finally, to close the evening, 12 musicians will take the stage for one of J.S. Bach’s celebrated Brandenburg concertos. Brandenburg No. 3 is distinctive as there is no single soloist or solo group, creating a complex texture and sound.
