Bravo! tickets go on sale today
Tickets for the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival’s 24th season go on sale today.Bravo! will host three world class resident orchestras this summer: the New York Philharmonic, The Philadelphia Orchestra and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. The Festival runs June 26 through Aug. 3.Chamber concerts will be held at Vail Mountain School auditorium and the Vilar Performing Arts Center. Large-scale concerts take place in Vail’s Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater, which holds 1,260 people in covered seating, and 1,500 on the lawn.This summer the festival is organized around several themes, including, Beethoven: Architect of Humanity, Let Music Swell the Breeze, Symphonic Tales, Golden Twilight: The Music of Mahler, Big Music For Little Bands, String Sensations, Quintessential Piano Concertos, SummerTime Classics, Sumptuous Soires, and Free & Easy.The Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival was founded in 1987 by John Giovando, an attorney with a love of classical music, with eminent violinist Ida Kavafian.What started as small festival with big dreams now draws more than 60,000 people through the summer.More than 50 soloists will perform, including pianists Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Yuja Wang, and Kirill Gerstein; violinists Gil Shaham, Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, and Augustin Hadelich; and double bassist Edgar Meyer. The festival opens 6 p.m. June 26 in the Ford Amphitheater with a free piano recital by Anne-Marie McDermott.The Dallas Symphony Orchestra is in residence June 29-July 6. The Philadelphia Orchestra is in residence July 8-July 16. The New York Philharmonic is in residence July 22-July 29.The festival closes Aug. 3 with Big Music for Little Bands.
