DALLAS — Patrons of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Bravo! Vail celebrated the start of the 2013 summer season of Bravo! Vail on June 30 at Splendido at the Chateau in Beaver Creek.

Hosted by Vicki Rippeto and Northern Trust, the elegant brunch was the ideal opportunity for Colorado patrons to mix and mingle with patrons and friends from Dallas, many of whom have homes in the Vail-Beaver Creek area.

A long, successful partnership

Representing the successful, long-standing partnership between the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Bravo! Vail were Blaine L. Nelson, the chairman of the Dallas Symphony Board of Governors, and his wife, Patti; Jonathan Martin, the Dallas Symphony president and CEO, and his wife, Amy; and Jim Palermo, the executive director of Bravo! Vail.

Against a backdrop of sunny skies and mountain views, conversation and conviviality centered around the Dallas Symphony and its celebrated music director, Jaap van Zweden, and the exciting beginning of the 26th season of Bravo! Vail.

Acquaintances old and new sipped cocktails on the terrace before moving inside for a sumptuous mid-day meal, including Alaskan crab and celery root remoulade, smoked salmon and caramelized onion tart with chive creme fraiche, rosemary and garlic roast leg of lamb with pomegranate jus and Shelley’s Louisiana shrimp and grits.

The guests

Among the 80 guests enjoying the splendid company and relaxing atmosphere were hostess Vicki Rippeto, John Jaran, Laura and Mark Flagg, Linda and Mitch Hart, Marilyn Augur, Arlene and John Dayton, Carol and Jeff Heller, Shirley and Bill McIntyre, Alice and Dick Bass, and Nita and John Ford.

The performances

The Dallas Symphony’s 2013 residency at the 26th Bravo! Vail began June 28 at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater with a near sold-out performance of jazz favorites led by conductor Jeff Tyzik presented in conjunction with Bravo! Vail Jazz Foundation.

That was followed by three concerts led by Music Director Jaap van Zweden, one featuring Bravo! Vail Artistic Director Anne-Marie McDermott and pianist Alessio Bax. It concluded July 4 with the popular Patriotic Concert.
