VAIL — The Bravo! Vail After Dark annual series begins today, offering free nighttime concerts at local bars and breweries, including the Vail Ale House, Bonfire Brewing Taproom and Crazy Mountain Brewing Co.

Designed to remove traditional barriers between artists and audiences while showcasing performances by cutting-edge artists, the concerts’ informal settings offers audiences a chance to interact with classical music in a more relaxed setting.

• Today — Ellis Hall: Relax with friends at Vail Ale House, sip local craft beer, and listen just inches away from one of the most legendary, soul-searing R&B masters alive. Hall, renowned worldwide as “The Ambassador of Soul,” brings his five-octave vocal range and keyboard chops to selections spanning his 40-year career, such as hits from the funk-rock super group Tower of Power; collaborators including Stevie Wonder, Patti LaBelle and James Taylor; and his musical mentor, Ray Charles.

• July 8 — Aeolus Quartet (strings): Join the young and adventurous Aeoulus Quartet at Bonfire Brewing Taproom in Eagle for a down-home tour of the American musical landscape. The quartet will perform selections from its acclaimed debut album “Many-Sided Music,” which takes its title form Leonard Bernstein’s description of the “many-sidedness” of American music. Settle in for an evening of ragtime and ruminations.

• July 29 — Qwinda Woodwind Quintet: Get blown away by the infectious melodies coming out of this woodwind quintet performing at Crazy Mountain Brewing Co. in Edwards. The musicians will challenge you to stay in your seat as this colorful program runs the gamut of modern and classic dance forms from around the world.

• Aug. 5 — Christopher O’Riley: An eclectic polymath of keyboard, O’Riley has an almost missionary zeal for breaking boundaries between genres. O’Riley is renowned for performing his own piano arrangements of music by the likes of Radiohead, Elliott Smith and Nirvana alongside traditional classical repertoire.
