Special to the DailyPolice discovered the body of Bradley Tubbs early Saturday in Avon.

VAIL ” Bradley Tubbs, who has been missing from his home of Texas since Jan. 1, was found dead in his truck Saturday morning.

Vail police issued a press release Saturday saying somebody had located 50-year-old Tubbs’ black Chevrolet Tahoe at a construction site near Swift Gulch Road and Post Boulevard in Avon. Tubbs was found inside and police say preliminary findings indicate Tubbs died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The final cause of death won’t be determined until an autopsy is conducted and an investigation is complete.

Police say Tubbs came to Vail on Dec. 9 and was staying at a Vail hotel. Family members told the Vail Daily earlier this month he arrived at the end of November to see if he wanted to live here. He planned on staying for about three months, the family said.

Tubbs’ brother-in-law and nephew came to Vail about a week after the family reported him missing, and posted signs around the Vail Valley in an attempt to locate Tubbs.

Vail police said they don’t have anymore details in the case at this time.
