Breaking: Eastbound I-70 over Vail Pass open, Vail no longer on accident alert
UPDATE: As of 2:11 p.m. Thursday, May 18, the town of Vail is no longer on accident alert.
UPDATE: An Eagle County Alert stated that eastbound Interstate 70 over Vail Pass reopened at 11:54 a.m.
UPDATE: The town of Vail is on accident alert, meaning that if you get into an accident in Vail and 1) there are no injuries, 2) both parties remained on the scene and 3) no alcohol or drugs were involved with the collision, then the parties involved can exchange contact and insurance information and make a counter report at the town’s offices within 24 hours, rather than waiting for a police officer to respond to the scene of the accident.
UPDATE: An Eagle County Alert issued at 6:21 a.m. states that Vail Pass is now closed eastbound at the Main Vail exit, 176. Vail Pass remains closed as of 9 a.m. Thursday.
UPDATE: An Eagle County Alert issued at 4:03 a.m. states that the traffic accidents on Interstate 70 have been cleared and the road is open in both directions.
According to an Eagle County Alert issued at 1:39 a.m., Interstate 70 is closed, both lanes, at mile marker 176 in Vail due to accidents. Expect delays; officials encourage motorists to use caution in the area.
