Breast cancer luncheon is July 14

BEAVER CREEK – Dr. Joanne L. Blum will discuss how to identify individuals at high risk of breast cancer at the annual Celebration of Life Luncheon at the Park Hyatt at Beaver creek July 14. Blum is the director of the Hereditary Cancer Risk Program and Research Site Leader at the Baylor-Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. The luncheon begins with a silent auction at 11:30 a.m., followed by lunch and Blum’s presentation. The cost is $100 per person. “All proceeds raised by the Vail Breast Cancer Awareness Group stay in Eagle County, and we were thrilled to commit at last year’s luncheon $75,000 to the Sonnenalp Breast & Diagnostic Imaging Center within the Shaw Regional Cancer Center,” said Kristin Kenney Williams, a spokeswoman for the group. “Because of the remarkable generosity of this community, we’ve raised more than $300,000 over the past 11 years.”Blum will discuss how to counsel people about their risk of breast cancer.
