Vail CO, Colorado
BRECKENRIDGE, Colorado ” With snow falling and cooler temperatures allowing for prime snowmaking conditions, Breckenridge Ski Resort will open terrain and lifts on Peak 8 Friday morning at 8:30 a.m., bringing the resort total open acreage to more than 620.
Skiers and riders will find nearly all the terrain on lower Peak 8 open with 12 runs accessed by the Colorado and Rocky Mountain Superchairs. The resort has also opened its expert terrain on the north side of Peak 9 to limited skiing and riding, including Devil’s Crotch, Inferno, Mineshaft, Hades and Tom’s Baby .
“With more than a foot and half of snow falling in the last week and more forecasted for the next three days, we are excited to open almost every run on Peak 8,” said Lucy Kay, chief operations officer for Breckenridge. “When you add the new terrain on Peak 8 plus the expert trails on Peak 9, we are offering our guests a complete ski experience.”
In addition to the Colorado and Rocky Mountain Superchairs, the resort will open the BreckConnect Gondola, providing access from the skier parking lots in town as well as the Snowflake lift. Guests accessing the resort from Peak 9 will be able to get to Peak 8 via the Peak 8 Superconnect and the Snowflake lifts.
At the end of the day, skiers and riders will be able to get back to the town and the parking lots on the Snowflake trail, 4 O’clock and the Skyway Skiway.
The forecast is calling for up to an additional foot of snow by Friday morning with additional snow forecasted through Monday. Skiers and riders should stay tuned to snow reports during the weekend as Breckenridge Ski Patrol will be adding terrain as conditions permit.
