Breck’s Backstage Theatre seeking performers
BRECKENRIDGE – The Backstage Theatre in Breckenridge is currently casting actors and actresses (who also can sing) for their Halloween production of the mocku-musical, “Cannibal, The Musical!” written by Trey Parker, co-creator of the hit TV show “South Park.””Cannibal, The Musical!” is based on actual events from Colorado’s history. The story revolves around Alferd Packer who leads a group of men from Utah to Colorado Territory (their destination is Breckenridge) in search of gold. Along the way, they have a run-in with malicious trappers, lose Packer’s beloved horse, Liane, encounter a Japanese-speaking Indian Chief (and even Jesus), and meet a grisly fate when they get horribly lost in the snowy Colorado mountains. Oh, and they sing and dance a lot, too. And what of the flesh-eating hinted at by the title? Well, let’s just say that’s all onstage … along with much, much more. The Backstage Theatre production is a regional premiere and will be directed by Joseph Norton. Musical direction is by David Wohl, off-Broadway composer and music director. To schedule an audition (by appointment), contact director Joe Norton at 303-596 7574 or Backstage Theatre artistic director Christopher Willard at 970-453-0199. Rehearsals for “Cannibal, The Musical!” begin in September. The show opens at the Backstage Theatre on Oct. 27 and closes Oct. 31. All positions are paid.Vail, Colorado
