Briefs: Bike path closed through Tues.

VAIL PASS ” A one-mile segment of the Vail Pass Bike Path is closed to cyclists and pedestrians through Tuesday for sediment removal operations.
The trail is closed on the west side of the pass between mile marker 185 (about five miles east of the East Vail exit) and mile marker 186 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
If cyclists arrive at the closed stretch, they will be required to dismount and wait ” up to one hour ” to be escorted through the work zone by project personnel.
VAIL ” The Town of Vail’s neighborhood picnic series continues this week, with the second picnic of the season scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Bighorn Park in East Vail.
The picnic is hosted by Vail’s Public Works Department and include a ribbon cutting for the park’s newly renovated play area, which has new features made from pine beetle-killed logs. Food will be provided by the town while it lasts.
The picnic is meant for residents to talk to town officials about community issues.
The final picnic is Aug. 9 at Ellefson Park, north of I-70 in West Vail.
