EAGLE – A controlled burn will be set today in the vicinity of Nelson Gulch in the Eby Creek area. Cut limbs and branches will be burned from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Residents in the area should have received reverse 911 calls on Thursday reminding them to: • Secure all windows and doors so that smoke does not enter homes.• Move all pets inside so they are not bothered by fire personnel in the area.• Stay clear of heavy equipment and crews working on the burn. EAGLE-VAIL – Battle Mountain High School’s free fall music concert, featuring traditional, multi-cultural and holiday music, is at 7 p.m., Nov. 16 in the school auditorium. The performance includes solos by Molly Thompson and Amy Webb and an audience sing-along. The advanced vocal quartet – Catherine Davis, Molly Thompson, Amy Webb and Sarah Wentworth – also will perform. The school band will perform works by Franz von Suppe, Handel and Tchaikovsky, and will end their performance with the jazz standards “Birdland,” “Satin Doll” and “Sweet Georgia Brown.” Soloists will include Lexi Horn, Harrison Huntoon, Blake Netzeband, Jenna Oppenheimer, Sean Pack Chris Ring, Aaron Szindler and Amy Webb. VAIL – On Nov. 17 – the same day Vail Mountain opens – winter paid parking will begin in the Vail Village and Lionshead parking structures, and Vail Transit will increase bus service.Also Nov. 17, lots at Ford Park will become permit parking areas. Season parking passes will be on sale beginning Monday at the Vail Municipal Building.In the garages, parking is free for cars that enter after 3 p.m. and for the first 90 minutes.
