Briefs: Electronics recycling Saturday

VAIL ” Residents can recycle old electronics Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Vail Town Hall.

Most computer monitors, for instance, have five to eight pounds of lead, which can be harmful to groundwater when left in landfills, according to the Eagle County Alliance for Sustainability.

Residents also can drop off TVs, stereos, computers, microwave ovens, 8-tracks, cell phones, computer mouses, keyboards and anything that uses a cord or batteries ” as well as cords or batteries.

Costs are as follows:

– $5: Laptops, CPUs, small printers, VCRs, CD players, toasters.

– $10 – Monitors (up to 17 inches), larger printers, TVs

– Anything heavier than your typical monitor will be more depending on weight.

The Eagle County Alliance for Sustainability will hold another electronics collection event later in the summer downvalley.

RED CLIFF ” How to use the town’s school building will be discussed at a Red Cliff Board of Trustee meeting at 6 p.m., Monday at Town Hall.

The building currently houses a community center, town offices and art studios.

The meeting is open to the public. Anyone who wants to submit ideas but cannot be at the meeting can contact the town offices at 827-5303.
