Briefs: Lionshead skatepark opens Thursday

VAIL ” For the first time in three summers, a skatepark will be open on top of the Lionshead parking garage.
The park has a half-pipe, pyramid, multiple ramps, transitions, rails and banks, plus a street course area for younger or less experienced riders.
The park will open from dawn to dusk through mid-October. Helmets are required for all users and bikes and scooters are not allowed.
The park was built by Hazard County Construction of Georgia and will be managed by the Vail Recreation District.
Thursday’s grand opening will include giveaways from Hazard County Construction, Sessions, DVS, Globe, Powell Skateboards, Emage Skate shop in Edwards, The Board Room in Avon and The Project in Eagle.

VAIL ” Vail buses will run on a summer schedule from Monday until mid-December.
There will be 40-minute to one-hour service on most outlying routes during busy times and one-to-two hour service during less busy times.
Parking in the Vail Village and Lionshead parking garages is free until late November.

VAIL ” Resident can pick up mulch for trees, shrubs and gardens at the town’s public works building, 1309 Elkhorn Drive, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Residents must load their own trucks and provide their own buckets and shovels. The mulch is generated by the town’s Christmas tree recycling program.
