VAIL – The boards of directors of the upper valley’s two water agencies have voted to oppose Colorado ballot Amendment 38, which make it easier for residents to place initiatives on the ballot. The boards said the measure, if passed, will weaken representative government by “subjecting every governmental decision at every level to petition.” The boards also said they are concerned about the cost to taxpayers of funding continual elections that could hamper the agencies abilities to provide water and sewer service. Eagle River Water & Sanitation supplies water to Vail and Red Sky Ranch and runs sewer service from Vail to Wolcott. Upper Eagle Regional Water Authority provides water service to Arrowhead, Avon, Bachelor Gulch, Beaver Creek, Berry Creek, Cordillera, Eagle-Vail and Edwards. For more information, contact Eagle River Water & Sanitation District’s community relations manager, Diane Johnson, at 477-5457Vail Daily, Vail, Colorado
