Bringing Bros & Bettys together in Vail
Theres something of a great divide between the locals when in comes to riding Vail or Beaver Creek, according to Kordi Schmidt, manager of the Ski Bar in Vail. Everyone has their favorite mountain true but she and fellow Ski Bar employee Scotty Boyle are aiming to unify each mountains fans with an event called Bros & Bettys, taking place every Thursday night at the Ski Bar starting tonight.Bring your friends in so we can all hang out and try to get everybody from Beaver Creek and Vail mountain (together) and see what everybodys doing, Schmidt said. The Bros & Bettys kickoff party at the Ski Bar will feature a performance by local rock band the MTHDS and a screening of the new snowboard movie Almost Homeless. Its really awesome, getting support from the local businesses, said Tim Bruner, one half of the filmmaking team who shot Almost Homeless. To have all these people be into it is super rad.One of Schmidts goals was to get exposure for the movie makers and in the process, help them raise money for new cameras and equipment, she said. But Bruner and his partner, Bob Aubrey, will also show some of their new footage every week during the event, and Schmidt said people can expect more local bands as well as winter gear fashion shows at Bros & Bettys as time goes on.Were trying to bring more of the riding community together, Schmidt said.High Life writer Charlie Owen can be reached at 970-748-2939 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
