Bringing Communities Together

June Creek Elementary and Berry Creek Middle School hosted their first of what is planned to be many joint events to build community between the two schools and support the implementation of Eagle County Schools' Seal of Biliteracy program. On Oct. 26, 47 kindergartners joined the eightth-grade class at BCMS for a fun-filled fall festival of pumpkin carving, Halloween coloring, snacks, games, balloons and more! The event was planned by the student council and supported by gift card donations from Walmart, City Market Avon and City Market Eagle as well as the BCMS student council and PTA. These community schools hope to build relationships between the elementary and middle school students while providing eightth-graders with an opportunity to accumulate volunteer hours for their Seal of Biliteracy awards.
