‘Broadway With Altitude’ returns Thrusday night
BEAVER CREEK – It’s showtime again at the Chapel at Beaver Creek as “Broadway With Altitude” returns for an encore performance on tonight at 6:30. Featuring Broadway and off-Broadway stars Beth Swearingen, Lance Schober and Mercedes Dauphinais, accompanied by the renowned local pianist Micky Poage, the evening promises professional and delightful entertainment for the whole family, organizers said. The program blends selections from various genres within musical theater, including tunes from “Phantom of the Opera,” “Boy from Oz,” “Les Miserables” and the “Music Man.” Although now a permanent valley resident, Swearingen has performed on Broadway, around the country and the world in hits such as “Cats,” “A Chorus Line,” Jerome Robbin’s “Broadway,” and numerous others.Dauphinais, a valley native, is currently residing in New York to study with the vocal coach of Bernadette Peters. Past roles at the University of Colorado include Maria in “Lend Me a Tenor,” Bella in “Lost in Yonkers” and Gaston in “Picasso at the Lapin Agile.” Vail appearances include The Martini Ball and regular guest appearances at Micky’s at the Lodge at Vail.Lance Schober’s tenor voice is a wonderful complement to Swearingen and Dauphinai, organizers said. Schober has performed locally with the Vail Valley Theatre Company as well as off-Broadway and with national touring companies.Poage has been entertaining the valley’s beautiful people at the Lodge at Vail since 1976. Known as the valley’s “piano man,” he is widely sought for entertaining not just in the valley, but nationally as well. The best part is obviously the entertainment, organizers said, but the next best thing is that 100 percent of the proceeds from this event, which is generously underwritten by an anonymous donor, benefit St. Clare of Assisi Catholic School and Vail Christian High School.”Broadway with Altitude” comes to the Chapel at Beaver Creek today from 6-7:30 p.m. Tickets are $50; students tickets are $10.
