Broken taillight leads to DUI in Eagle

EAGLE, Colorado –On Jan. 23 at around 10:50 p.m. an Eagle police officer spotted a pickup truck with non-functioning tail lights traveling southbound on Eby Creek Road. When he pulled over the driver, the officer noted a strong odor of alcohol emanating from the vehicle.
The driver, who reportedly had bloodshot and watery eyes, denied having anything to drink. However, his speech was slurred and he had difficulty finding his vehicle registration and proof of insurance.
According to the police report, the driver did consent to perform roadside maneuvers, but he did not pass the tests. Ultimately, he admitted to having a few beers.
The driver refused comply with either a blood and breath test, so his license was revoked and he was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence and a tail light infraction.
