Builders to hold fire suppression system update Aug. 22 in Edwards

Daily staff report

EAGLE COUNTY — Eagle Valley Home Builders Association is presenting a symposium titled “What’s New in Fire Suppression Systems: Updates and Changes.”

This session is designed to inform and update participants on the changes to code requirements within the different jurisdictions in Eagle County.

“Fire codes vary greatly from one area to the next in this valley, so we are bringing speakers from different entities together to explain any new updates they are implementing and to alleviate some of the confusion that may easily occur within the construction community,” said Sue Throckmorton, executive officer of Eagle Valley Home Builders Association. The speakers are Mike Vaughan, town of Vail fire marshal; Tom Wagenlander, division chief from Greater Eagle Fire Protection District; and Robert Kohrmann, town of Eagle inspector. Additionally, Tom Brinkman, president of the Colorado Association of Home Builders, will be speaking on the issue. The symposium is sponsored by Meridian InterMountain.

“This symposium is one of a series EVHBA will be offering as a valuable service to its members and to the construction community as a whole,” Throckmorton said.

The symposium will take place Aug. 22 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at the CMC Edwards campus. Coffee and pastries will be served and the cost of the symposium is $10 per person. Register in advance by calling Throckmorton at 970-328-2205 or emailing
