Burning planned on Beaver Creek
Vail, CO Colorado
BEAVER CREEK ” The U.S. Forest Service Thursday and Friday will burn piles of logs, branches, stumps and other brush leftover from forest work on Beaver Creek Mountain.
The debris is leftover from the widening on the Latigo Ski Trail and logging done to remove trees killed by pine beetles. For more information on these activities, call Don Dressler with the U.S. Forest Service at 827-5157.
Beginning Monday, piles of debris will be burned in West Vail, Minturn and throughout the White River National Forest. The goal of this work is to get rid of dead trees and brush that could more easily burn in a wildfire.
Smoke and flames may be visible from various points across the forest, and some smoke may settle into lower elevations in the evening hours.
“We don’t expect a lot of impact to the surrounding areas,” said Fuels Technician John Seemann.
