Behringer Harvard, a Dallas-based company, announced has acquired a majority interest in the 56-room Lodge & Spa at Cordillera. The reported closing price was $35 million.In addition to the 8-acre lodge site, Behringer Harvard and its joint venture partner, Townsend Partners, also acquired 23.2 acres of undeveloped land adjacent to the property.The resort is a jewel in the mountains, said Robert M. Behringer, founder and CEO of Behringer Harvard. We believe we can increase Cordilleras appeal and take greater advantage of its prime ski location. Behringer said current plans are to renovate the resort and add 19 additional lodging units.The Lodge & Spa at Cordillera property consists of hotel rooms, the 23-acre Cordillera Village Center site, the Grouse on the Green restaurant, and the Strawberry Park Condominiums located in Beaver Creek. For more information, go to http://www.behringerharvard.com.Lucy Kay named chief operating officer at BreckVail Resorts announced this week that Lucy Kay, most recently vice president of marketing for Breckenridge and Keystone Resorts, will become chief operating officer of Breckenridge Ski Resort. The move is effective immediately. Kay has more than 25 years of experience in the mountain resort industry, having spent all of it at three ski resorts in Summit County. She has been vice president of marketing for Breckenridge since 1991 and Keystone was added to her job duties in 2003. Lucy has played a major role in the success of Breckenridge and Keystone, establishing both resorts as industry leaders in resort rankings, visitation, profitability and reputation, said Rob Katz, chief executive officer of Vail Resorts. There is no one better suited to lead Breckenridge into the future and continue the momentous growth it has enjoyed over the past decade.Prior to her position as vice president of marketing for Breckenridge, Kay was director of marketing for Copper Mountain Resort for four years. She began her career in the mountain resort industry as director of personnel for Copper and then moved into public relations and finally, marketing. She is a board member of the Breckenridge Resort Chamber, and a member of the Breckenridge Economic Development Committee, Colorado Ski Country USAs Marketing Committee and various other Summit County community planning groups.Robert Trotter Appointed General Manager of Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa Robert Trotter, most recently general manager of the JW Marriott Denver at Cherry Creek, is the new general manager at the Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa. Trotter will oversee the propertys opening, scheduled for July of next year.The new Westin Riverfront Resort and Spa is located in Avon along the Eagle River, with direct access to Beaver Creek ski area via the new Riverfront Express Gondola, scheduled for opening during the 2007-2008 ski season. Before joining the Westin team, Trotter was general manager of the JW Marriott Denver at Cherry Creek. Trotter also opened and worked as general manager of the Hotel Monaco in Denver.Trotter is a board member of the Colorado Hotel and Lodging Association.
