MINTURN – Rev up those shopping engines. It’s countdown time for the gigantic garage sale that benefits more than 65 local nonprofits.The Eagle Valley Community Fund Auction and Rummage Sale will open its doors at 6:45 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at Maloit Park south of Minturn. The auction begins at 8:30 a.m. with lots of furniture, antiques and more.There will also be a silent auction of great items during the first day of the sale, including gift certificates from local businesses and a bake sale.There will be rooms with clothing for men, women, children and infants; a toy room; book room; ski and snowboard equipment; a “new” room, housewares and electronics. New this year is a home decorating area.
In its 42nd year, volunteers have been working since May to sort and mark the tons of boxes and bags that have been donated. The sale continues on Sunday, Aug. 20, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.The next weekend everything goes to half price or “let’s make a deal.” Hours Saturday, Aug. 26, are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and hours Sunday, Aug. 27, are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.The sale is one of Vail’s oldest fundraising events and draws shoppers from throughout Colorado and many surrounding states.
