Calling all (sustainable) artists

Special to the Daily

EDWARDS — The Eagle Valley Alliance for Sustainability, in conjunction with the Alpine Arts Center, is pleased to announce the fourth annual Reconstruction Recycled Art Show and Competition.

This year, continuing in the spirit of sustainability, artists will use found materials from sources of their own choosing to create a wall-hung or free-standing piece. The show will begin Aug. 3, followed by a reception on Aug. 6 at the Alpine Arts Center in Edwards. Artwork will remain on display at the Arts Center until Sept. 27.

Public vote

The public may vote for their favorite pieces, and first-, second- and third-place winners in both the adult and kids’ categories will be awarded at the reception. Unless otherwise specified, pieces will be available for purchase through a silent auction. Pieces not sold via silent auction may remain for sale for the duration of the exhibition.

Recycled, up-cycled and/or re-purposed materials must compose the supporting element of your vision. Otherwise, there are no specific guidelines for subject matter. Other materials provided by the artist may be used (canvasses, paint, mixed media, etc).

Please contact the Alpine Arts Center at 970-926-2732/alpineartscenter.org or event organizer Rebecca Hollister at 970-471-4222 or rockymtnreba@hotmail.com to register as an artist.
