Calling Eagle County photographers
EAGLE COUNTY — Are you a photographer? Do you have a desire to join an organization of other local photographers to be inspired, to learn techniques and to participate in art activities in Eagle County? At this time, Eagle County does not have any organizations that support photographers and the photographic arts. However, there is one organization in the county that has brought together artists of many media formats — the Vail Valley Art Guild.
The VVAG was founded in November 2013, but to date it does not have photographic arts as part of their mix. Two local photographers hope to change that. Raymond Bleesz and Rick Spitzer are working with JoAnn Carhart Levy, a founding member and vice president of the VVAG, to include a photographic arts community component in the VVAG.
The mission of the Vail Valley Art Guild, a nonprofit organization, is to promote and foster artistic growth and build awareness of the visual arts in Eagle County by fostering an artist community, creating exhibition and gallery opportunities for local artists, sponsoring and participating in art workshops and classes, and building awareness of the artistic talent in Eagle County.
A photographic group is being organized for novice to professional photographers to consider many possible activities as part of the VVAG, including image competitions with expert critiques, educational activities taught by pro and semi-pro members, seminars and workshops to foster skills, group outings to develop skills, guest speaker events to provide inspiration, photography shows to promote the work of local photographers and more.
This group would become part of the VVAG and would participate in many of their activities and shows. The membership for a Vail Valley Art Guild member is $30 for a year (Jan. 1 through Dec. 31 of each year).
If this is something you would like to explore, a meeting will be held at the Singletree Community Center (101 Berry Creek Road, Edwards) on Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m.
A cash reward is being offered for information leading to locating Ryan Daniels. The local 19-year old man went missing May 22.
