Can Do MS announces new leaders

EDWARDS — Can Do Multiple Sclerosis has announced that Richard Kelly and Robin Kelly from Denver have been appointed to co-chair. The new officers include Bernice Kuca, of Boston, as vice chair; David Madden, of Orinda, Calif., as treasurer; and Kate Togneri, of West Hollywood, Calif., as secretary. In addition, Can Do MS added one new board member, Dr. John Schafer, of Sacramento, Calif. Schafer is also a programs consultant for Can Do MS.

The 16 members of Can Do MS’s board of directors provide strategic guidance in the fulfillment of Can Do MS’s mission to lead the way with comprehensive programs that empower people and families living with MS to transform and improve their quality of life. Can Do MS board members are comprised of business professionals and leading experts in the MS field.

“I am honored that our newly appointed officers and members are lending their knowledge, expertise, and inspiration as we continue our endeavors to make an even greater impact in the MS community,” said Heidi A. Heltzel, president and CEO of Can Do MS. “This group is strong and innovative and has had a positive impact in helping us reach more people living with MS.”

The other 10 individuals who serve on the board of directors are Bob Gardner (Avon), George Garmany, MD (Boulder), David Hartman (Mill Valley, Calif.), Michelle Leighton (Orinda, Calif.), Joyce Nakamura (Denver), Josh Richter (San Francisco), Catherine Rudiger (Davis, Calif.), Randy Schapiro, MD (Eagle) and Mark Shircel (Towers Lake, Ill.).
