Can you just wait a minute?

“The Lord longs to be gracious to you; He rises to show you compassion. For God is the God of justice; blessed are those who wait on Him.” Isaiah 30:18.We find it hard to wait on anything, don’t we? And God a gracious God? There’s been way too much teaching that God is certainly not gracious; on the contrary, He is quite angry with us. After all, doesn’t He expect humans to live by rules and formulas? Doesn’t He demand that we work hard to keep our noses clean? Who needs a God like that? We might as well fight for our own destinies and develop our own plans, right? Fortunately, the truth is quite different. God Almighty actually longs to be merciful, and He invents ways to lavish His compassion on us. When we have the courage to stop, look, and listen, we’ll find God is not interested in rules, but rather our integrity. He’s not impressed with our spiritual formulas instead our Father desires to shape our characters with His grace and justice. Down through the years, I’ve discovered when our plans and agendas exclude the Lord, they are woefully inadequate. Pushing FOR OUR WAY gets IN THE WAY of God’s amazing design. When we have the nerve to let go of our plans and seriously seeking Christ’s blueprint, things will change. We become dependent on the Lord rather than ourselves; and we find a deep, abiding peace like we’ve never known before. God even utilizes life’s difficulties to shape and refine us! The Lord provides true friends (Himself as one of them!) to accept, love, and support us. Now that’s God’s graciousness! In the glory of creation, the majesty of His Son, and in truth of His Word, God’s Voice shouts:”I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for…” Jeremiah 29:11.”You will be My very own people, and I will be your very own God.” Jeremiah 30:22.”I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness. I will build you up again, and you’ll be rebuilt.” Jeremiah 31:3-4.Do these “God-Words” encourage your heart? They are His message written directly to your soul. Every day, God rises to show us compassion BECAUSE life gets weird, people WILL reject us, and we DO make bad choices. But as sure as the Lord shaped these mountains, He speaks to us the benefits of His mercy and justice! Count on it: God loves you and me; His plan is perfect, and He cannot imagine eternity without us! Trust His compassion, bank on His grace, and wait on His plan. And God promises: “Anyone who trusts in Jesus Christ heart and soul – will never regret it.” Romans 10:11.Gary Wingo leads a Bible Study on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. in EdwardsVail, Colorado
