Information and instruction in breast self-exam was provided to many hundreds of residents (and visitors to our region) through our displays at City Market stores in Battlement Mesa, Rifle, New Castle, Glenwood Springs, Carbondale, El Jebel, Aspen, Eagle, Avon, and Vail. We are grateful to the helpful managers and personnel of these stores. In addition, we were able to provide a display at CMC’s Spring Valley Campus.
Thanks to volunteers and board members who generously gave their time to educate others on this important topic: Nancy Adsit, Maggie Berg, Barrie Bergener, Bev Chapman-Wood, Kathleen Cook, Kathy Feinsinger, Cindy George, Sandy Goldman-Israel, Barbara Gugelman, Joyce Harris, Yvonne Hernandez, Abby Lochhead, Bonnie Murry, Tara Parker, Brenda Seavy-Rice, Ruth Velda, and Terri Worm.
According to statistics, one of the men and 87 of the women who received information during our campaign will develop breast cancer. If we were able to make a difference in assuring that most will survive their cancers because of early detection and treatment, we know our time was very well spent.
The Komen Foundation’s educational efforts are funded by your generous donations and participation in the Race For the Cure. Please join us next year.
