Carbondale hosts blues and barbecue Saturday

CARBONDALE – Main Street in Carbondale will be smokin’ hot at the KDNK Blues and BBQ Fest Saturday.Feast on barbecue, sip on fresh Tommyknocker microbrews, enjoy cooking demonstrations from renowned chef Eugenia Bone, as well as Rikki McKenna and other local chefs, and enjoy the music of Eddie Turner and Seventh Hour.

New this year is the Slow Food Grand BBQ Tasting with regional organic meats and sauces, grilled peaches and other locally harvested fare from 4-7 p.m. at the Village Smithy. Chef Jaimie Theirot, owner and chef of Smoke, Willits’ up-and-coming barbecue joint, will pair food and beer for a feast of the palate.Turner played Telluride’s Blues and Brews Fest last year and will bring his brand of scorching blues to Carbondale. Backed by an all-star band, Cuban-born Turner pairs his Latin musical influences with the blues.The event is free and starts at 3 p.m. with cooking demonstrations. Seventh Hour starts at 5 p.m.; Turner takes the stage at 7 p.m.
