Carbondale police investigate ‘drive-by’

CARBONDALE, Colorado ” James Sheehan had just pulled into his driveway at his Carbondale home at about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday and parked his truck when the window behind his head exploded.
“I heard a, ‘pop, pop,'” Sheehan said.
The feeling of glass hitting him in the back of the head caused him to duck into his seat. The two fixed windows in his truck were gone and broken glass covered the vehicle’s interior.
Sheehan noticed a white station wagon vehicle driving away from his house, but said that he didn’t get a really good look at the vehicle.
“I don’t know how they could be that good of a shot driving down the road,” he said. “It should have hit me in the head.”
According to the Carbondale Police Chief Gene Schilling, this is the second vehicle to have a window shot out in about a one-week period within the town of Carbondale.
Schilling said there was not much he could comment on because the investigation is ongoing. However, Sheehan said he believed the suspects used a pellet or “BB gun” to shoot out his windows. But he didn’t find any projectiles in a search of his vehicle after the incident.
Schilling confirmed that police are looking for a white Subaru station wagon but no other information was released.
The strange part of the situation was that it happened during daylight hours in the middle of the afternoon, Sheehan said. Thankful that he wasn’t seriously injured, Sheehan now hopes the police will find whomever is responsible.
“I hope they find them,” Sheehan said. “I don’t like being shot in the back of the head.”
