Celebrate the summer solstice in Vail with yoga and more
VAIL CO, Colorado
VAIL – The Vitality Center in Vail is hosting its first ever Summer Solstice celebration Wednesday with a first-of-its-kind yoga class that will incorporate freeform dance and deep relaxation, honoring themes of fire and light on the longest night of the year.
The Summer Solstice Shakti Fest will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a Vinyasa-style flow designed to open the hips and connect to the breath led by Prana Flow teacher Helena Alves. This will flow into a Yoga Trance Dance session of freeform, breath-driven movement guided by Julia Clarke. Tara Goike will conclude the class with an extended Anjali Restorative Yoga practice featuring meditation in relaxing poses where the body is supported by bolsters and blankets. The spontaneous nature of this class makes it suitable for all-levels of practitioner.
“These three styles of yoga extend from the same lineage, however this is the first time anyone has put them together in one practice,” said Yoga Director Julia Clarke. “Since each is geared towards the liberating of creative energies, we knew they would make the perfect pairing for such a celebrated celestial event. It’s a great opportunity to honor our own vitality and creativity, and for students to experience yoga in its many forms.”
Helena Alves, Julia Clarke and Tara Goike are all local yoga teachers at the Vitality Center, which offers 25 yoga classes per week including Vinyasa Flow, Meditation, Kundalini Yoga and Restorative Yoga.
Advance sign up for the event is $15, at the door registration costs $20. For information contact The Vitality Center at 970-476-7721.
