Celebrating the Class of 2015
Larkin Smith
School: Vail Christian High School
Favorite school moment from any year: Spending a week in Hawaii for Academic Decathlon Nationals in Honolulu. In addition to actually competing and taking tests, we spent hours “studying” on the beach, snorkeling in reefs, and bonding while wandering around downtown.
Summer plans: Living in Chicago with my older sister and best friend to take classes with the iO Summer Improvisation Intensive for five weeks.
Where you’re headed this fall: The University of Chicago

If you’re leaving Eagle County, what will you miss most: I’ll miss the comfort and safety of Eagle County. I’ll miss walking into any store or restaurant and always seeing a friendly, familiar face, the waiters knowing my name and usual order, and being able to be completely carefree, without a need to be on my guard, when walking down the streets.
In 10 years you’ll be: In ten years, I will hopefully be well on my way to a career in either public health policy or environmental policy, affiliated with either a branch of the United Nations, the CDC, some other governmental organization, or a non-profit.
Favorite class you took: AP Language and Composition
Class you wish had been offered: AP Studio Art 2D
Anything else? At UChicago, I’ll most likely be majoring in Public Policy and minoring in Human Rights. Also, my best friend, Stuart McDonald, is going to the same college as me!

Favorite school moment from any year: Graduation day!
Give a shout out: I would like to thank my principal Mr. Hill and all of my teachers for always pushing me to do my best. I would also like to thank my family for always believing in me especially Jorge for always supporting me.
Summer plans: Spend time with my family.
Where are you headed this fall: With God’s will, I would like to begin cosmetology school.
If you’re leaving Eagle County, what will you miss the most: I’m planning to stay.
If you’re staying, what are you happiest about keeping: I’m most happiest to be near my family.
In 10 years you’ll be: A makeup/hairdresser at my own beauty salon.
Favorite class you took: Horror class with Ms. Qualman.
Class you wish had been offered: Red Canyon offered every class I could possibly think of.
Ryan Schmidt
Vail Mountain School
Favorite moment or memory from any school year: My favorite moment was having lunch with my field day team as a senior.
Summer plans: I plan to ski a lot this summer, both within the US and around the world.
Where are you headed this fall? I am taking a gap year, but will be matriculating to Middlebury College in the fall of 2016.
What will you miss most about Eagle County? I will miss the great scenery and outdoor activities.
In 10 years you’ll be: Employed, hopefully.

Favorite School Moment of Any Year: Beating Battle Mountain for the volleyball league championship title
Summer Plans: Playing lots of volleyball and spending time with friends before we all go off to college
Where I’m Going this fall: Coe College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa
What I’ll Miss Most: All the great friends I’ve made over the years and my family
In 10 Years I’ll Be: Hopefully accepting an Oscar for Best Screenplay

Jazzmyn~Sky Patterson
School: Eagle Valley High School
Favorite school moment from any year: Anytime I was able to mess around with my friends and just be myself.
Summer plans: This summer I plan on working as much as I can to make some money to support myself. I will be moving out and I will also be spending a lot of time with my horse!!
Where you’re headed this fall: This fall I will hopefully be moving and taking a year off of school, so that I can make money, and find out what I really want to major in when I go to college.
If you’re leaving Eagle County, what will you miss most: Being able to drive a few miles up the road to go four wheeling and being able to play in the mud puddles!! And the down to Earth people that I have met and become friends with.
In 10 years you’ll be: A nurse or a vet
Favorite class you took and why: Chemistry with Mr. Brandt, or Government with Mr. Gleiss. They both interested me a lot. In Chemistry I was able to excel in my favorite subject, and in Government I was able to expand my knowledge on something I didn’t know enough about at the time.
Class you wish had been offered: I wish there was Theatre and Drama!!!!
Anything else?
I want to say thank you to my oldest sister, Savanna, for always believing me and pushing me forward when I needed the push, and helping me become the woman I am today. Also a big thank you to my Gran, Mom, and Dad for never trying to change who I am, and helping me realize thank it is okay to be unique. And finally to my boyfriend, Kris, and my horse, King, for teaching me that no matter what I can never give up, always start what you finish, and to always follow and pursue my dreams.

Favorite school moment from any year: Winning first place at States for ProStart last year and winning 2nd place this year.
Summer Plans: Working and planning a trip to Hawaii
Where you’re headed this fall: Johnson & Wales University in North Miami Florida
If you’re leaving Eagle County, what will you miss the most: I will definitely miss the bipolar weather, and being able to take a hike anywhere in Colorado.
In 10 years you’ll be: Cooking for a rich family somewhere in Dubai or England.
Favorite class you took: I loved AP Environmental Science, but I also loved ProStart with Ms. Wible
Class you wish had been offered: How to be an adult.
Anything else? I just want to thank everyone who was apart of my life, who helped me through a lot of things. I definitely owe this community a lot and hopefully i can come back when I am successful and give back as much as I can. Love you mom!
