Charges filed in trucker’s Vail I-70 death

VAIL ” A 58-year-old man from Dunlap, Tenn., has been charged in the death of a trucker who was killed on Interstate 70 Oct. 18 while removing chains from his tractor-trailer.
Jerry Lee Dotson is charged with one count of careless driving caused death, a class one traffic misdemeanor.
Investigators say Eduardo Gandarilla, 36, of Los Angeles had pulled his rig off the north shoulder of the westbound lanes of the interstate near mile marker 178 and was removing chains from his tires when he was struck by Dotson’s vehicle.
The highway was slushy at the time and it was snowing when the accident occurred.
The penalty for a class one traffic misdemeanor is 10 days to 1 year in jail, $100 to $1,000 fine.
