Charles Leroy “PeeWee” Price of the Eagle-Gypsum area died Thursday at Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Hospital in Denver. He was 63.

He was born Feb. 10, 1946, to Russell Lynn and Myrtle Stout Price in Glenwood Springs. He spent his childhood in the Eagle Valley and graduated from Eagle Valley High School in Gypsum.

Price worked with the Vail Mountain operations crew for Vail Associates from 1965-2008. He made significant contributions to the growth and success of the operations team. “PeeWee” worked with various departments over the years including Lift Operations, Lift Maintenance, Vail Ski Patrol, Snowcat Operations and Heavy Equipment Operations until his retirement in 2008.

He loved ice fishing, hunting, trap shooting, watching wild life and the outdoors. He had a deep love for Vail Mountain. His hunting and fishing took him as far as Alaska, Canada and the Yukon. He enjoyed visiting with friends and getting together with family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his mother, Myrtle Price of Eagle; brother Russell Price, of Lake George; and sister Theresa Morrow of Eagle.

He was proceeded in death by his father, brother Fred “Junior,” and sister Julia May Olin.

A celebration of life will be held at the Brush Creek Pavilion in Eagle on Saturday at 1 p.m.
