Local musicians who have been playing in the valley for years, along with some new faces, will entertain audiences around the valley throughout the summer season. VAIL Alpine Tavern and Restaurant, Vail Racquet ClubSinger, guitarist and songwriter Jim Carstensen has performed professionally for more than 42 years. He will perform at the Alpine Tavern and Restaurant in the Vail Racquet Club every Friday night throughout the summer from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. “Where I play is a beautiful place,” Carstensen said. “I really enjoy the east Vail scenery and atmosphere out here.”Carstensen entertains his audience with old folk, country and rock favorites, as well as some original songs of his own. “It’s a very relaxing, intimate atmosphere,” he said. “It’s kind of a casual place and pretty laid back.” Mickey’s Piano Bar in The Lodge at VailLocal pianist Micky Poage will play his music nightly throughout the month of July from 9 p.m. to midnight at Mickey’s Piano Bar in The Lodge at Vail.Poage has been entertaining audiences at the piano bar named after him since he was 19 years old. Marketplace on Meadow Drive in Vail”Vail Cabaret Nights” returns to the Marketplace on Meadow Drive for its fourth year this summer.Local singers, including the waiters and waitresses, put on a spectacle of Broadway show tunes, along with live piano music, every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday night from 8 to 10 p.m. until July 24. BEAVER CREEKGrouse Mountain GrillJazz performer Tony Gulizia, also known as “Tony G,” will play at various venues around town through Labor Day, including Grouse Mountain Grill in Beaver Creek, where he’s performed for about 20 years. He will play the piano and sing every Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 6:30 p.m. starting June 23.”I love the people, and over that period of time, I’ve met so many people visiting that come back year after year,” Gulizia. “It’s just a pleasure to see all my friends that return to come see me play over the summer also.”The Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor GulchThe Ritz-Carlton will host Brews & Bluegrass each Thursday this summer from 6 to 8 p.m. The entry fee, which includes complimentary valet parking, is $35 for adults, and kids are half price. The entry fee includes unlimited food from the Buffalo Bar and unlimited beer from Edwards’ Crazy Mountain Brewery. Attendees can enjoy live music by local singer/songwriter/guitarist Sean Healey and a rotating cast of his musician friends throughout the summer.”Being directly on Beaver Creek Mountain, we are able to offer guests and locals mountain views while listening to signature Colorado sound,” said Public Relations Coordinator Jackie Randell. “It’s the perfect combo of all of Colorado’s finest: Good views, good music, good food and good brews.” AVONAvondale in the Westin Riverfront Resort and SpaOn Sundays, Tony G will provide the musical entertainment for the Westin’s jazz brunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with drummer Brian Loftus. The duo calls themselves BLT.Finnegan’s WakeFinnegan’s Wake will host music events four nights a week ranging from hip hop and dubstep to country and reggae music. Thursday nights at around 8 p.m. the restaurant and bar will feature country western bands, and Friday nights it will rotate between local bands and DJs to provide live entertainment for its guests.DJ Jahstone will play hip hop and dubstep music Saturday nights at 9:30 p.m. upstairs in the restaurant with its new sound system. Reggae music will play Sundays from 1 to 6 p.m. as well. MINTURNKirby Cosmo’sKirby Cosmo’s is hosting free live music every Wednesday and Friday night from 8 to 11 p.m. throughout the summer.The performances will feature local artists who mainly perform bluegrass and jam band music. The restaurant and bar also plans to implement hosting an after party Thursday nights following the free concerts that take place at Little Beach Park.
