Vail, CO Colorado

VAIL, Colorado –Vehicles will be rerouted in Vail Village for the next few months while “Checkpoint Charlie” is rebuilt at the intersection of Gore Creek Drive and Willow Road just south of the International Bridge. The detour will continue until the Checkpoint Charlie project is completed in mid-December.

A temporary Checkpoint Charlie facility is being installed at the intersection of East Meadow Drive and Willow Bridge Road and will be staffed by the police department from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily to manage vehicles in the village.

The detour will be: From the Main Vail roundabout, continue east on South Frontage Road to Village Center (Solaris construction site), turn south at Village Center to East Meadow Drive, then south on East Meadow Drive to Willow Bridge Road. This is where the temporary Checkpoint Charlie facility will be located for permits and access to the interior of the Village. Authorized vehicles will then continue south on Willow Bridge Road to Gore Creek Drive. All through-traffic on Gore Creek Drive will exit the Village via Vail Valley Drive. Signs will be in place to direct the traffic flow.

The hours for on-street loading and delivery will remain unchanged during the construction. For more information, contact Todd Oppenheimer, the town’s capital projects manager, at 970-390-4678.
