Child advocates needed in Eagle County

Daily staff report

EAGLE COUNTY — CASAs are court-appointed special advocates help children who have been abused and neglected by their own families.

CASA volunteers are judge appointed and have three main responsibilities: They are fact-finders who research cases; they speak for the child, representing their best interests; and they are advocates for the child, ensuring the child has a safe and permanent home as quickly as possible.

Informational meetings for those interested in this rewarding volunteer opportunity will be held at the Avon library, on Dec. 12 and Jan. 9, from 6 to 7 p.m. The next training session begins Jan. 25.
