Children’s Garden of Learning in Vail names new executive director

Special to the DailyDeeDee Hense is the new executive director of the Children's Garden of Learning preschool in Vail.

The Children’s Garden of Learning preschool in Vail, Colorado recently announced that DeeDee Hense has been named executive director.

“DeeDee has a vast array of both knowledge and hands-on experience in Reggio Emilia-inspired preschools”, said Katie Campbell, president of the Children’s Garden Board of Directors. “We are so fortunate to have such an eminently qualified person leading the school into a very bright future.”

Hense was raised in Fort Collins. She earned a B.A. in exercise science from Fort Lewis College in Durango and has her Teaching Certification in K-12 Physical Education.

Hense is has state certification in running preschool programs and is currently working towards a second bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. She taught at ABC/Learning Tree from 2001-2004 and at the Durango Early Learning Center from 2004-2007. Hense joined Children’s Garden in June, 2007 as a preschool teacher, and in October of 2008 was named director of curriculum.

The Children’s Garden of Learning, a Reggio Emilia inspired preschool, is located at 129 N. Frontage Road in Vail and is home to 100 preschoolers aged 22 months through pre-kindergarten.
