Children’s Garden of Learning’ Vail Derby Party returns Saturday

AVON — The Children’s Garden of Learning is hosting its fourth annual Vail Derby Party to celebrate Saturday’s 142nd Run for the Roses.

This year, they’ll be at Maya restaurant at The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa in Avon from 3 to 6 p.m.

The annual event is a benefit for the Children’s Garden of Learning.

Along with food and games, they’ll be hosting Best Dressed and Best Hat contests, with a prize of two bottles of wine each given to the contest winners. Attendees also can buy a chance to win four bottles of red wine valued at $85. Brothers Keeper is doing the music.

Silent Auction Items

Silent auction items include Colorado Mountain Express voucher and Epic Pass; gift cards to local restaurants, hotels and retail stores; and tickets to Highline summer events including Oktoberfest and Gourmet on Gore. And, of course, there’ll be mint juleps and other libations.

They have on-site child care with room for 10 more children.

For older children, the Westin will be hosting a Cupcakes and Canvas party. An instructor will guide participants through a step-by-step demonstration of the featured acrylic painting.
