EAGLE – The second annual Red Canyon High School Chili Cook-Off is set for Nov. 11 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Brush Creek Pavilion in Eagle. The competition will be divided in green chili and red chili divisions. “We encourage all people to make a great pot of chili, professional and amateur,” Principal Wade Hill said. The cost is just $5 to enter, which also gets you a bowl and spoon to mingle and taste. The cost also include a beverage, and if you bring a non-perishable can or box of food for Make a Difference Day, those items benefit local charities and you get a buck of your entrance fee.Various items will be auctioned off during the event’s silent auction. Last year, the event raised $2,900 and those funds benefited the Hurricane Katrina victims. This year, the money will help support the Expeditionary Learning Program at Red Canyon High. The highly-popular program gives students opportunities to learn outside of the traditional classroom setting.”Radio Free Minturn will be there to DJ the event and we will have a booth staffed to answer any questions or give more information about our expeditionary learning program,” Hill said.
