‘Chronicles of Narnia’ on Vilar’s big screen

BEAVER CREEK – As the second installment of the Vilar Center’s free family movie series, “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” hits the Beaver Creek venue’s big screen on Friday at 6:30 p.m. Before the movie, kids dressed as their favorite movie characters are encouraged to participate in a costume contest, with prizes awarded to all. Contest prizes have been donated by Beaver Creek merchants.C.S. Lewis’ classic novel was brought to the big screen as last year. This Oscar-winning adaptation tells the story of four siblings, Lucy, Edmund, Susan and Peter, who discover a mystical world through an old wardrobe. The children’s arrival in this once-peaceful land inhabited by talking beasts, dwarfs, fauns, centaurs and giants, gives the creatures hope for liberation from the curse of eternal winter. With special effects and lifelike creatures, the children are dragged into conflict between good (Aslan the Lion) and evil (the White Witch). The film is rated PG and runtime is 134 minutes.
