Ben and Whitney Rogers get married at the newly remodeled Eagle River Presbyterian Church in Avon.

AVON — As ski season gives way to wedding season in the Vail Valley, there are many iconic locations for nuptials. Unfortunately, most of them are likely already booked through the peak summer months.

Eagle River Presbyterian Church is not one of those booked-to-capacity venues. The church, near the Eagle River in Avon, is newly remodeled and promoters say it’s one of the best-kept secrets for a perfect Vail Valley wedding. To show its charms, the church will hold a wedding expo today from 4 to 7 p.m.

“Our church is a hidden gem because after our renovation project we can now offer so much more for weddings,” pastor Rob Wilson said. “It’s right along the river, we have a fellowship hall, we have specific spaces for brides and grooms, and we can offer them a wedding without the rush of a two-hour time slot.”

Popular chapels and other venues often ask couples and families to keep strict schedules. Church member Laura Howe said the pace is more relaxed at Eagle River Presbyterian.

“We now have a fellowship hall, which would be great for receptions, a commercial-grade kitchen, a lovely deck, plus a graciously-sized yard large enough to have a tent,” Howe said. “In addition to all of that, we have plenty of parking, which I think is an added bonus.”

The church, located at 455 Nottingham Ranch Road in Avon, can now hold 282 guests in its refurbished main sanctuary, with 16 in the balcony. Additional seating can be added to increase those numbers to 322 in the sanctuary and 20 in the balcony.

The church is also ideal for other events such as birthday parties and graduation ceremonies. Wedding planners and event coordinators are welcome to attend. For more information, call 970-748-0040 or email erpcchurchoffice@gmail.com.
