Church Park Fire 100 percent contained

Sky-Hi News Staff report
Grand County, CO Colorado
Byron Hetzler / Sky-Hi News

After last night’s snow and rain, the Church Park Fire five miles west of Fraser is now 100 percent contained, according to a U.S. Forest Service spokesman.

Crews will continue to monitor the fire and are starting to repair the fire lines to a natural condition. The public can expect to continue to see smoke and burning in the interior of the fire until snow covers the area.

The Grand County Sheriff has lifted all evacuation alerts. No structures are threatened.

Due to fire suppression activities and safety concerns because of falling trees, people are urged to stay out of this area and to follow all posted closures.

The fire area remains closed to the public because firefighters are still conducting a great deal of activities in the area. There are also a significant number of hazard trees along the road ways.

This area may remain closed until the snow flies due to hazard tree removal projects. Check with the Sulphur Ranger District Visitor Information Center for more information at 970-887-4100.
