Churchill artifacts on display in Vail

Vail-area residents will have the rare opportunity to view a top hat autographed by Sir Winston Churchill, Joseph Stalin and President Franklin D. Roosevelt as well as other select Churchill artifacts and photographs at an event called “Churchill in the Rockies” Wednesday.The event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. in The Englishman at 193 Gore Creek Drive in Vail. Light refreshments will be served. Dr. Rob Havers, executive director of the National Churchill Museum, is the host for the evening’s activities.Proceeds will be used to maintain the National Churchill Museum exhibit “Churchill’s Finest Hour,” a room that presents a sight-and-sound simulation of the London blitz accompanied by a film narrated by Walter Cronkite on Churchill’s wartime leadership. The National Churchill Museum on the campus of Westminster College in Fulton, Mo., is the only North American institution fully devoted to immortalizing the life and work of Churchill.
