Clerk: Get your absentee ballots in
EAGLE COUNTY ” Election officials need the 2,000 absentee ballots still floating in limbo quickly returned to their offices.’
Eagle County Clerk Teak Simonton asked voters to return the ballots to clerk offices in Avon, Eagle or El Jebel as soon as possible to ensure timely results on election night. Officially, the ballots must be returned to the offices by 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Absentee ballots can’t be returned to polling stations.
“It takes eight people eight hours to get through about 700 ballots,” Simonton said. “So if everything comes back (late) Tuesday we’re in trouble.”
People who failed to return absentee ballots can provisionally vote at polls on election day, but the votes won’t officially be counted until the following day when election officials verify those people didn’t send in an absentee ballot.
