VAIL – This year’s EEF Climb Every Mountain Benefit – held Sept. 18 – raised more than $7,000 for the Jon Efraimson Cancer Fund.

Approximately 75 people rode their bikes and walked up Vail Pass to raise money for the foundation inspired by longtime Vail Valley resident and video producer Jon Efraimson, who died of cancer in 2003. A large share of the funds were raised through prize drawings “that everyone wanted to win,” said Meggen Bernstein, an organizer of the benefit.

“Our ability to raise over $7,000 is a result of the incredible community support, participation of all the riders and walkers,” she said.

Donations were also made by the Vail Valley Foundation, Vail Resorts, Inc., Molson beer, Bogart’s, the Lodge at Vail, Marriott Mountain Resort and LionSquare Lodge, Wildflower/Cucina, Larkspur, Billy’s Island Grill, Bart n’Yeti’s, Moe’s BBQ, Eat!Drink!, Luca Bruno, Ptarmigan Sports, Wheel Base and Double Diamond Ski Shop, among others, Bernsetin said. To date, more than $11,000 have been distributed by the fund to families. For more information, contact the Vail Valley Medical Center Foundation at (970) 569-7511.Vail Colorado
