Climb Every Mountain cancer benefit Sept. 16

Daily Staff Report

VAIL ” The fifth annual Climb Every Mountain cancer fundraiser is Sept. 16 on Vail Pass.

Participates can walk or bike in the climb, which raises funds for the Efraimson-Sutphen Cancer Support Fund. The fund has provided emergency financial assistance to over 30 cancer patients and their families during treatment at Edwards’ Shaw Regional Cancer Center.

The cancer support fund was started to honor valley resident Jon Efraimson, who died of lung cancer in 2003. This year’s event is dedicated to Bill Sutphen, a major fundraiser for the cancer fund who died earlier this year.

The climb up the pass begins in East Vail at 9 a.m. for walkers and 9:45 a.m. for bikers.

The $50 registration fee includes T-shirt, toast at the top and raffle ticket. The event is

free for kids 18 and under, though donations are appreciated.

For more information, please call 569-7511.

Those who can’t participate can send donations to: Vail Valley Medical Center Foundation, P.O. Box 1529, Vail, CO 81657.
