Clinton supporters will march at Dem Convention
DENVER, Colorado ” Supporters of Hillary Clinton plan to march in Denver during the Democratic National Convention to honor her history-making run for the White House.
Colorado Women Count/Women Vote won a permit from the city on Tuesday to hold a parade on Aug. 26, the second day of the convention and the 88th anniversary of women’s suffrage. They also plan to gather for a festival in a downtown park.
“We just want to celebrate Hillary’s accomplishments and what she’s done for the country as a whole and women in particular,” said parade and rally organizer Katherine Vincent, 55, of Louisville.
Vincent and other supporters think delegates who back Clinton should be able to vote for her at the convention. Clinton would have to request that she be nominated for the vote to take place.
Clinton conceded the Democratic primary race to Barack Obama in June. On Tuesday, the Obama campaign said Clinton would host rallies and voter registration events this Friday in Las Vegas and again in south Florida on Aug. 21.
Clinton is scheduled to deliver a speech at the Democratic National Convention. She’ll also appear at an Emily’s List event celebrating women’s suffrage on Aug. 26 along with Michelle Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
