CMC New Hires Direct College’s New Learning Philosophy
Colorado Mountain College has hired two new administrators to help it become what it calls a “learning college.” Chief Student Development Officer Linora Claussen and Dean of Arts and Sciences Diane Nyhammer will work at the college seven Colorado campuses. Claussen, who has 27 years of community college administrative experience, says a learning college uses systematic assessment and data to confirm that learning has really taken place instead of relying on anecdotal or intuitive information.Nyhammer has been a teacher and administrator for more than 15 years. She most recently was the assistant director for accreditation services for the Higher Learning Commission. She is currently working on her dissertation for a Ph.D. in higher education in the Educational Leadership and Policy Studies program at Loyola University, Chicago. Vail, Colorado
