VAIL — The Vail Recreation District’s Community Programming and the town of Vail Public Library will host Cocktails and Canvas from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, featuring step-by-step instructions to create personalized wine glasses. Lauren Merrill of Alpine Arts Center will guide participants through a demonstration of wine glass painting that will allow them to leave with their own unique masterpiece.
Participants are asked to bring their own set of wine glasses. Inexpensive glasses will be available for purchase at cost. Light snacks, all paints and other materials will be provided at a cost of $15 and the instruction has been underwritten by the town of Vail Public Library. This special event is open to ages 18 and older. A cash bar will be available for those older than 21 years of age. Space is limited and reservations are highly recommended.
Creating Something New
According to Merrill, Cocktails and Canvas is a great way to spend an evening getting creative. The best part of this class, she said, is that participants create their artwork in one evening and walk away with fun creations to share with their friends and family.
“You’ll walk away with a custom wine glass or glasses that will be a fun conversation piece or gift,” Merrill said. “Even if you’ve never painted before, the class is step-by-step so you can follow along, or feel free to bring in your own design and try something on your own.”
Community Programming, which is operated by the VRD, is located on the second floor of the Lionshead Welcome Center, adjacent to the Lionshead Parking Structure and on the town’s free intown bus route.
