Cogswell Gallery hosts artists Darcie Peet and Melissa Cooper
Cogswell Gallery in Vail Village is hosting two artists Saturday from 2-5 p.m. The reception allows viewers to mingle with the artists and ask questions about their work.Chicago-born, Darcie Peet grew up in Pennsylvania, lived many years in Colorado and now resides in Tucson. After receiving a degree in fine-art painting at Colorado College, she spent more than 20 years in advertising and graphic arts, and then earned her master’s degree in interior design from the University of Colorado. Her paintings catch a quick glimpse, fragment or point in time, many completed on-site. A horseback rider most of her life, Peet takes backcountry rides with her husband, taking along sketchbook and camera.Born in Colorado, Melissa Cooper was raised with the appreciation of wildlife and art. Both of Cooper’s parents are artists, her mother a painter and father a sculptor. At 17, Cooper became her fathers apprentice and was fortunate enough to work in the foundry where his work was cast and learn the entire bronze making process. From monument-size cougars that will stare you down to tabletop bears that will steal your heart, Cooper has a way of instilling each bronze with its own personality. Her assortment of sculptures continues to grow with each year as she is constantly inspired by wildlife and nature.
